Haiku of the Incarnation

Does Jesus ever
wax nostalgic for the taste
of a home-grown fig?

Does he talk about
campfire nights swapping tall tales
with the disciples?

In spring does he long
for the scent of the myrtle
trees on the hillside?

Can he still feel the
weight of a bone-tired body
sinking into bed?

Does he ever sit
and daydream about the days
when he was human?

Lovely poem. I wonder if we will feel that way sometimes when we're in heaven.

In my opinion, I think being in the Glory of the King, there would be nothing to daydream about or long for. Perfection.

This is very good, especially the last stanza (haiku?).

I think Jesus still experiences those things - through us, the ones He loves so much and knows so well.

That was sweet, Ruth.

That is so lovely - thank you.

And the end - it stops my heart for a moment.

Wow, Ruth, I've never thought of this.....if Jesus reminisces about when He was on earth as a human. Thank you for giving me something unique to ponder today.

Love this. There are some sweetnesses of embodied life that I can't believe I won't long for, even in heaven. Thanks for this!
