I've been using The Divine Hours by Phyllis Tickle to pray the morning office. (I haven't managed to add noon prayer and vespers, but that's a different post.)
Anyway, this is the prayer appointed for this week, and I've been finding it very meaningful. I'll post it without further comment.
Most loving Father, whose will it is for us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you who cares for us: Preserve me from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from me the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested to us in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

There are two prayers I try to say each day in addition to the Rosary. One I'm sure you know. I'll email them to you.
Ruth, you have reminded me of a practice that would be beneficial for me during Lent. I have all three books of Phyllis Tickle's and haven't used them for quite awhile. Thank you.
That is a really good reminder to not get lost in the things that really don't matter in the end. There's only one thing that matters.

That's a beautiful prayer. I just prayed it as well.
Tahnk you Ruth. You reminded me to let go and let God. I tend to be a worrier and I miss much joy that way. I'll be more vigilant after reading this. :)
Liturgical calendar Twilight Zone moment...you posted this prayer and I wrote one along the same lines. Must be the impending feeling of Lent!
Amen.
AMEN. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks. I needed that today.
I agree--a lovely prayer, one I'm keeping close to my heart. Actually, I almost posted it myself!
Amen. I've sorry that I've been very much allowing "clouds of this mortal life" to "hide from me the light of that love..." recently.
I've been doing the same as you. ONce in awhile I get compline in.... but mostly it's just morning prayer :).
Beautiful thoughts, Ruth. Thanks for posting them.
...oh my...I love those words "faithless fears". It really puts it into perspective....that are fears are unfounded. For we can move forward on faith...why should we fear? How is your week going Dear Ruth...I am thinking of you this very busy week for you!
Yeah, I especially need the first part of that prayer.
Is today Ashe Wednesday for you? Are you beginning Lent? If so, what will you be doing to set this time apart? This is what I'm asking everybody today.
Have a great one!
Elizabeth
I needed that! thank you!
That's so good, Ruth....."preserve me from faithless fears and worldly anxieties." Thank you for the reminder.
