My second effort at a self-portrait. I like this one better. Still no smile (it's hard to smile convincingly at yourself in a mirror), but the look is less stern.
Oh, yes, this is definitely better. When I picture you looking at yourself in a mirror while drawing it, I understand the expression perfectly. Love the eyes!
If you want more of a smile here's a suggestion...try drawing from a photo instead of a mirror. But I think you did great here! You do a good job with details.
I'm so happy for you, that you are drawing a lot these days. That's how you improve is by just doing it and doing it! I love that you saturate yourself with whatever you're into...I do that too and I'm glad to know I'm not alone! LOL

Nice eyes! And I like how you've cropped it right off the page. Reminds me a little of Angela Lansbury for some reason. Not a bad thing, I think!
You are brave. I hate doing self-portraits. I really, dont' want to be examining my face that closely!
You're right, this one is better. I like the style, too.
Jay is right. You ARE brave -- but then again, you have something really pleasant to work with! :)
I really like this Ruth! I am so impressed.
This is so good! You are amazing!
I agree that you are bold in taking on a self portrait - I like to stick with flowers and chairs! And I love the texture of your hair and you eyes.
Its very good, but I can't believe you are that stern-looking very often, Ruth.
I love this picture. It's great. I don't think you look stern, you look pensive and alert. You should frame it!

Where do your talents end lady! I like this alot.... not stern at all. You can see the kind eyes though. Lots of detail.
with every picture you get better...and more confident...and as your title suggests - less constantinian :)
Very nice! Your kindness shows through more in your expression in this portrait.
You get better and better!
