Canna Lily

This is the drawing I've been working on the last two weeks. I wanted to continue practicing even though I'm between classes. The colors are a little washed out compared to the original. I'm still struggling with how to photograph my sketches.

Clicking on it makes it bigger.

Ruth, You really need to start marketing your work. I know there are several stock houses that carry detailed botanical illustrations. This is incredibly beautiful. You should be very proud.

Ok, so there are canna lilies! I corrected my sis and said she must mean calla lilies. Oops. I love the way you did the leaves with all the color and texture.

Just fabulous, Ruth. It truly is a labor of love. I can only imagine the intensity and focus it takes to create this kind of beauty.

Hi Ruth, You can check out any of the stock image sites – istockphoto.com is one I use a lot, just google stock illustrations or royalty free illustrations to get a full list – and go to their submission guidelines to see what their policies are. I believe most pay by the download, but am not sure as I am usually on the other side of the process. Good luck!

I love how you've captured the sunshine on those leaves. As for capturing intensity of colors in photographs, if you have exposure compensation feature on your camera, try going -1/3 to -2/3 stops. If not, you could try increasing contrast and saturation in software like iPhoto or whatever program you use to crop your images.
