I'm very sorry. I hate word verification, and I know the words are sometimes very difficult to read.
But the last week, I've been repeatedly targeted by spam for viagra and cialis and also some very strange pseudo comments that seem to be computer generated (or written by someone with no facility in any known language).
So for the time being, we have to play the security game.

With some of the folks I've seen online, I've had word verification and comment moderation from the very first, and I do not apologize. That is just the way of the world.
BTW, there only has been one comment I have not approved. That was long ago and I don't remember what the problem was, just that there _was_ a problem.
Sorry about the spammers, Ruth. I have trouble with open ID, so I'm glad you've left the Name/URL option.
Don't worry. Glad you could do something that will help!
That's exactly why I did it Ruth. I don't mind doing the word verification at all. Sometimes it's quite entertaining :-)
Oh I am so there....it is a horrid thing to have to do...it seems like censorship but truly, we bloggers have an understanding if not first hand experience in getting spammed. Mine was such foul stuff it was horrifying to me...never again!
Spam and trolls. Not the diet of champions.
Totally understand.
This happened on my old blog and a few people actually got a virus in their computers when they clicked on a link so I absolutely understand.
I'm sorry that you've been getting crappy stuff. We'll do what we have to!
I've had to do the same at OCICBW...
The impression I get from reading other blogs is that this increased spam is a universal problem at the moment.
I don't know why they bother with me, though. I get my Viagra for free on the National Health.
I'm with Leann, sometimes I get a chuckle out of word verification. As for those viagra and cialis ads... those can stop anytime now, although the disclaimers can be rather amusing.
I use Firestats, which works remarkably well. I had a spam comment passed on for moderation this morning, but it's very rare they even get that far.
I hate word verification too, but I understand.
It stinks that people have to resort to security measures just to keep out the riff raff. Aren't you glad it exists though?
(If you ever get the urge to switch over, Wordpress has a built in spam catcher...just sayin!)
Hey Ruth, miss you! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
