November Portrait

Here is the portrait I did in class this month. I missed a week, and we don't meet Thanksgiving weekend, so I did this in only two sessions.

I did something very different with this portrait than any other one I've ever done. I did not outline the head or neck or shoulders. I made very small marks for certain landmarks and I added a few directional lines, but then virtually everything else you see here was done simply with shading. I did add two very short lines for the upper and lower eyelid and for the line between the lips and I outlined the neckline of her top. Those were basically the only solid lines I used.

The model doesn't look quite this severe in real life, but I think that might be because this was also the first profile I've ever done.

As always, clicking on the image will give a larger view.
